What a phenomenal home! We had the most beautiful time at Idwala View. The home and views are outstanding. You really get the true bush experience with fantastic amenities like a pool, deck, and a game-viewing vehicle for rent. Lea was one of the best hosts I have ever had. She was communicative, flexible, and so well-organized. She is a true professional host and a pleasure to deal with. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic place, and I can’t wait to go again! Lea is a great host and wonderful at communicating and answering any questions and queries. The place was just amazing! Perfect bushveld escape and a fantastic family getaway. The bedding was so luxurious it felt 5-star all the way! Noteworthy details: Load shedding (National power outages) continues to be an issue in South Africa, but Idwala View Lodge is perfectly prepared for this. We hardly noticed when the power went out as the solar power took over without issue, and the TV and internet were not affected. The lodge is also very well equipped with more than you would generally need! The gas cooker was also great for making coffee when the power went out, and there were enough pots, pans, crockery, and cutlery to have a batch in the dishwasher and still dish up for everybody at the same time!

Dit was ’n heerlike kuier in ‘n baie mooi lodge! Die eienaar was baie hulpvaardig gewees en het dadelik gereageer op WhatsApp-boodskappe en e-posse. Ons het nie gesukkel met enige logistieke reëlings en die gebruik van die fasiliteite nie omdat al die nodige inligting vooraf ontvang is en duidelik uiteengesit was. Ons beveel die akkommodasie definitief aan!

We had a magnificent experience visiting Lea’s place in Mabalingwe. It is spacious, comfortable, exceptionally well equipped, and delivered on everything promised. We enjoyed visits from a wide range of wildlife, including warthog, Kudu, monkeys and more. Our family reunion was extra special because of the spectacular, private surroundings. Lea has thought of everything, her response to any query is within minutes, and we felt very well looked after. The safari vehicle was a real treat, and we were lucky to spot Buffalo, Rhino, and Elephant. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone!

Fabulous! Great house, comfortable, quality linen, and private rooms off the main deck. Lovely location, great sunsets, very little light pollution, and a Milky Way so bright and close up at night. Lovely Boma also had the gas barbecue as a backup for feeding the hordes. The kids loved the pool. Entertainer’s dream, kitchen kitted out with everything one could imagine or need. Well worth renting the land cruiser – we did and enjoyed great game drives 2x daily. Also helped having 2 accredited guides in our party… Lea was ultra responsive to all my questions before arrival and during occupancy, and provided daily updates on load shedding ( not that one noticed any issue, what with the inverter and 10kw batteries! ). Miriam was a marvel, friendly, helpful, and highly efficient – knows the place like the back of her hand. Thank you for sharing your space with us, Lea!

Lea was very helpful and quick to respond to queries and texts. The house is very well placed and we saw lots of animals including most of the Big 5. The Jeep is fun to use and easy to drive. The house was as described, due to the country’s load shedding we were unable to use the heated pool but the solar availability was great and we had no problem with lighting, cooking, and hot showers. We would definitely return, the family of 11 enjoyed the fun break away.

FABULOUS!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! This was by far the best Airbnb we have stayed in. The house has everything you need and more and is such a wonderful place for a family and friends getaway. The house has plenty of room for all, with everything you need for your stay, including helpful extras for your game drives. The location is great, very private, and an easy drive down to the main reception and activities center. Lea, our host, was extremely organized and very proactive with her communication, clearly explaining everything. Our entire group was very impressed and loved every minute we spent at Idwala View. This house will blow your mind… it has everything you need – the linen in each bedroom is of very high quality, and the kitchen is so well stocked with every gadget you can imagine. They have solar which was a massive bonus, swimming pool towels an amazing ice-making machine, and an absolutely beautiful bona! Kitted out with camp chairs, a built-in sink, and a separate braai! We used the game drive vehicle for 3 days during our stay – and it was amazing. Lea was a brilliant host, had excellent communication, and everything was well thought out for us!

“We booked Idwala View through Lea directly from the UK to gather family and friends after a very tough few years apart. From the outset the attention to detail and support provided by Lea were outstanding. This lodge has literally everything you could need to enjoy an amazing experience. Even through a rough patch of load shedding the lodge is very well equipped to manage the outages with minimal disruption as the lodge is set up so well with solar power backup. There were a few questions during the visit and Lea was ever ready and available to provide support. The manuals and information provided both before and during the stay were invaluable. Evenings were spent watching amazing sunsets around the pool and having good old Braai’s around the boma watching the stars and listening to the lions in the predator center. We were visited by warthogs, monkeys, kudu, and other wildlife and passed a huge herd of Buffalo just down the road one evening. A truly memorable stay at a very well-appointed lodge with all the luxuries one could need. We will be back for sure!”

“Idwala View was the perfect place for a wonderful family holiday in the beautiful African Bush! The house was spacious and very generously equipped for our group of 11 people… from the very well-equipped kitchen, luxurious bedrooms, and bathrooms to the ambient lapa for evenings spent around the fire, and the pool deck with dining tables, deck chairs, and porch swings. The views of sunsets from the elevated deck were so beautiful and serene. We loved the fact that we could hire the game-viewing vehicle to drive ourselves through the Bush. The Mabalingwe reserve is stunningly beautiful with mountains, dams, and lush greenery. We saw elephants, kudu, nyala, waterbuck, giraffe, zebra, warthogs, impala, klipspringers, hippos, a crocodile, and many beautiful birds. At night we could hear the roars of the lions from the Predator Park. Thank you, Lea! We really hope to be back again, and have recommended the house to other family and friends”

“It was my husband’s and two of our very close friend’s birthdays. We needed to get away from the four walls lockdown has brought on so many. We wanted to spoil ourselves in the company of very good friends at a place in isolation, – in the bush. From the moment we arrived at Idwala View, it felt amazing with drinks on the deck and the perfect sunset. The evening we spend at the boma, enjoying a cool and pleasant evening with wine. The next day was a treat as the animals came to the waterhole just below the lodge. They were our visitors and we were in awe of them as they roamed around while we were in the heated pool with coolers, biltong, and snacks. We ended the day off with a trip on the Landy enjoying the treats of mother nature. It was exactly what the doctor ordered and to our lovely and helpful host, Lea, – “we say thank you for offering your wonderful home and that we will definitely be back!”

The house is beautiful, with stunning views over the bushveld landscape, and equipped with everything you could possibly need, including an ice-maker, very welcome in the January heat! The beds are huge and supremely comfortable and everything is clean and neat. The layout of the house allows for maximum privacy in three of the bedrooms, while the loft room is ideal for couples with younger children. Lea, the owner, is extremely organized, thus ensuring a memorable and problem-free stay. Highly recommended!”
